Sky C&I Distributed Energy is looking for an ESG Associate to join its newly established team. The successful candidate will play a hands-on role in shaping and strengthening ESG practices across a dynamic and diverse portfolio of businesses to ensure that these meet the requirements of their investor, the Sky Fund. You’ll collaborate closely with OEGEN’s ESG team, adopting processes and standards required. The role of ESG Analyst at Sky C&I Distributed Energy

As Sky C&I Distributed Energy‘s ESG Associate, you’ll play a hands-on role in shaping and strengthening ESG practices across a dynamic and diverse portfolio of businesses (“portfolio companies”) to ensure that these meet the requirements of the Sky Fund. You’ll collaborate closely with OEGEN’s ESG team, adopting processes and standards required.

This includes working closely with renewable energy infrastructure investments, development  platforms, and energy transition companies — many of which are new to ESG and eager to build meaningful strategies from the ground up.

You’ll collaborate with portfolio companies to develop tailored ESG plans and improve data quality.  From onboarding new businesses to guiding strategic platforms through climate risk assessments and ESG reporting, you’ll be a trusted partner in embedding ESG.

What you'll do

- **Helping portfolio companies build ESG capability** — co-creating ESG strategies, setting reporting expectations, and helping to ensure alignment with the fund’s objectives.
- **Improving ESG data and reporting quality** — collecting, validating, and checking ESG and carbon-related data to support reporting and provide the data Sky requires for disclosure (e.g., SFDR, EU Taxonomy), and investor requests from the portfolio companies.
- **Supporting climate risk assessments** — assessing physical and transition risks, contributing to scenario analysis and stress testing across portfolio companies.
- **Driving ESG integration into early-stage investments** — designing scalable ESG processes for development platforms and new portfolio companies.
- **Assessing ESG risks during the investment cycle** — reviewing potential investments to ensure alignment with ESG standards and policies, including identifying red flags or risks related to supply chains, human rights, and environmental compliance. Tracking agreed post-investment ESG actions across the portfolio companies, ensuring progress, and flagging delays or blockers where needed.
- **Providing ad hoc support across the wider portfolio** — responding to ESG queries, supporting case studies, or advising on ESG best practice as required.

What you'll need

- Experience in ESG or sustainability, ideally within asset management, infrastructure, or private equity.
- Strong understanding of ESG frameworks and reporting standards, including SFDR, EU Taxonomy, and TCFD.
- Practical experience with carbon data collation and emissions footprint methodologies.
- Ability to engage effectively with a range of stakeholders — from early-stage companies to internal investment teams.
- Comfortable working independently, managing competing priorities, and adapting in a fast-moving environment.
- A genuine passion for sustainability, energy transition and the role of finance in accelerating net zero
- Experience supporting or implementing ESG strategy within high-growth or early-stage businesses.
- Familiarity with renewable energy technologies and supply chain due diligence (especially human rights).
- Hands-on experience with ESG data platforms or sustainability reporting tools.
