Job Purpose:
The Metering & Charging Lead is responsible for the effective management of metering, charging, settlement and industry data processes, ensuring compliance with industry codes, regulatory requirements and market obligations.
Reporting directly to the Director of Regulation, Policy & External Affairs, the role will act as the business lead for metering and charging activities, overseeing MPAN creation and validation, industry data management, Elexon audit activity and line loss factor reviews.
The role will play a critical part in ensuring data accuracy, maintaining robust governance processes, supporting industry compliance and driving operational excellence across the business.
As Metering & Charging Lead you will be responsible for:
Metering & Industry Data Management
- Raise new MPANs in accordance with industry requirements and business timescales.
- Validate and maintain MPAN records to ensure accuracy and integrity of industry data.
- Investigate and resolve metering and industry data discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate customer and market data across internal and external systems.
Support the improvement of metering data quality across the business and utilization of metering data to benefit the business. Charging & Settlement Management
- Support the accurate application of industry charging arrangements.
- Prepare and manage charging-related data
- Investigate and resolve charging discrepancies.
- Work closely with finance teams to ensure charging data is accurate and investigate billing discrepancies. Support the development and implementation of robust charging controls and processes.
Working closely with our service providers to monitor settlement-related activities and ensure data accuracy is maintained throughout settlement. Compliance & Assurance
- Lead and coordinate Elexon audit preparations and submissions.
- Maintain detailed records and audit trails to support industry compliance.
- Monitor compliance with applicable industry regulations, codes and governance requirements.
- Identify, assess and mitigate risks relating to metering, charging, settlements and industry data.
Industry Performance & Analysis
- Produce weekly and monthly performance reporting for senior management.
- Analyse data trends and industry developments to support informed business decisions.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as the internal subject matter expert for metering, charging, settlements and industry data.
- Build effective working relationships with industry bodies, market participants and third-party service providers.
- Provide advice and guidance to colleagues on industry processes, charging arrangements and regulatory requirements.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
Essential:
- Strong knowledge of electricity industry metering, charging and settlement processes.
- Experience raising and validating MPANs.
- Experience managing industry data and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Experience conducting or supporting Elexon audits.
- Understanding of Line Loss Factors and their application within charging and settlement processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
